8. PROJECT OBJECTIVES:

In order to assist Vietnam in addressing the challenges of construction management and urban development, the World Bank (WB) has awarded AMC funds from the Institutional Development Fund (IDF) with the purpose of developing core training courses. The core training courses, named the Senior Training course for Chairman of City People's Committee, aim to modernize and professionalize urban management in the country. The training courses will provide urban leaders with intensive knowledge and skills, and at the same time an understanding and the way to deal with challenges from the Vietnamese urbanization context.

9. PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The project has the following components:

- Development of basic senior curriculum for City People's Committee Chairman;

- Implement of The Training of Trainers (TOT) course includes: (a) Developing training guide and (b) organizing the training of trainers course (face-to-face, 2 days, for 15 trainees)

- Implement of the pilot training course (face-to-face, 5 days, for 30 Chairman/Vice-Chairman of Medium sized Cities People's Committee)

- Academy of Managers for Construction and Cities

- Research institutes, universities, medium-sized cities

11. OBTAINED RESULTS:

1. A set of basic senior training curriculum and materials for City People's Committee Chairman;

2. Successfully implemented 01 Training of Trainers (TOT) course in 2 days, for 27 trainees;

3. Successfully implemented 01 pilot training course for 25 trainees who are Chairman/Vice-Chairman of medium - sized Cities People's Committee.
